Utilization
Our miscellaneous products meet a wide variety of needs in very diverse circumstances. Our knives are used in any industrial application that involves the cutting of different materials, like pallet strapping, tapes, boxes and twine. Our steel utility knife is heavy duty, and our plastic utility knife is lightweight and fits in the user’s pocket.

Our polyethylene tubing is the perfect solution for packing items of different lengths, like golf clubs, fishing poles and mini-blinds. The tubing is easy to work with because it can be heat-sealed, stapled or taped to secure the ends.

In a similar way, shipping tubes, manufactured with paperboard, are a good solution for mailing and storing parts or drawings in a variety of businesses, like machine shops, manufacturing installations, distributors and architectural firms.

The twine we carry is manufactured from cotton or polypropylene. These varieties strengthen and hold many kinds of packages and bundles together in retail, distribution and manufacturing environments. They are easy to use.

Usage Advice
Our tap-action knife operates with a single push, and the blade is exposed for use. Snap-blade knifes are very convenient because they do not require many blade changes; the user simply snaps off the dull portion of the blade and a new sharpened edge is ready.

Shipping tubes, made with paperboard, can be used in almost any industry. They are quick loading, are very rigid and resist folding and bending. Importantly, they are reusable, and they come with end caps or can be taped or crimped at the ends. We recommend filament tape over the plastic plug in an X pattern to secure the package.

Twine resists rot, mildew, moisture and most acids. It knots easily, holds tightly, and won’t become brittle over time.

Common Mistakes
Too often, workers do not have replacement blades on hand for their knives and, therefore, lose time looking for them or efficiency in using dull blades.

When using paperboard shipping tubes, make sure you use the right size tube to fit the product you are shipping, to assure it’s protected.

Twine made of polypropylene is easier to use and less expensive than twine made with cotton.

Specifications
Utility knives are made either of steel or plastic. There are numerous varieties. Some utility knives have retractable 3-blade positions. Tap-action knives have one easy-to-change, single-edge razor blade. Snap blade knives have 24 snap-off blades and an automatic locking device.

Our paperboard shipping tubes are made with 100% recycled paperboard. Stock sizes are wall thickness of .125 inches, diameters of 2 ½, 3, 4, 5 and 6 inches, and lengths of 12 to 60 inches. Custom diameters and lengths to 120 inches are available.

Twine, which is made of cotton or polypropylene, comes in numerous sizes. For example, #850 polypropylene twine has a tensile strength of 138 lbs. and comes in cartons containing 8,500 feet; and #450 polypropylene twine has a tensile strength of 251 lbs. and comes in cartons containing 4,500 feet. Cotton twine is available in various plies, from 6 to 36, and it comes in cones, balls and reels.
